Our Automation Works Training Facility students had a wonderful and impactful outreach experience at VRT Pitt Primary School in Railton, Western Cape during the first term of 2023. Collaborating with the primary school learners to educate them about the pendulum – a creative and engaging way to introduce scientific concepts. Odendal was well-received by the learners, this indicating that the presentation was both engaging and informative.
Nicholas Collins’ involvement in explaining Automation Works and the field of automation was an excellent way to introduce young minds to real-world applications of technology and engineering. The fact that the outreach was successful and well-received speaks into the effectiveness of hands-on experience which learners can’t experience with online courses.
It’s also commendable that this outreach enhanced our students’ confidence in collaborating and interacting with the community. Providing them with hands-on experiences and exposure to real-world interactions can be immensely beneficial for their personal and professional development. This kind of community engagement helps them develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and adaptability.
The plan to continue collaborating with the primary school in the future is a positive step towards fostering an ongoing relationship between the students and the community. This can lead to even more impactful interactions and opportunities for learning and growth on both sides.
Overall, a successful and meaningful outreach experience that has not only educated young learners but also contributed to our students’ personal and academic growth. Kudos to our students, Nicholas Collins, and everyone including the Technology teacher at RVT Pitt Mr Zuan Jansen involved in making this outreach a success!
